1BlessedNatural Experience: Lessons of Faith from a Roller Coaster
Hey everyone,
I am sorry that I have not been updating this blog as much as I should. I'm going to try harder to do so :-)
I posted this blog post originally on the Natural Hair Tales of 1BlessedNatural blog...
If you know me, then you know that I do not ride roller coasters. I don't even like the "baby" ones lol. I am not a fan of height, so I'm not going to put myself in a place where I will be suspended in mid-air just for fun. When my brother asked me to ride the Superman ride at Six Flags Great Adventure, you can guess the answer that I gave him. However, 10 minutes later I found myself standing in the line of over 100 people, waiting to get on the Superman ride. I could not believe that I had let my brother talk me into riding it.
There I stood in this line staring into faces of smiling folks that seemed too happy to experience their near death experience via a metal contraption. My brother said that the ride was not a big deal. But, this is coming from someone who adores roller coasters, of course. We stood there and watched several people fill the ride's seats and take off into the loops in the sky. My niece and her friends were the first to get on the ride. Also, I must mention that you lye down during the ride. After the safety apparatus is fastened you are turned over on your stomach in a flying position and the floor underneath you drops. Fun times! LOL. When the safety apparatus fastened (remotely by the operator), I was ready to jump out of my seat. But, I said a little prayer and we took off. On our way up the first hill, I told my brother that he would have to talk to me during the ride. He said he was Batman and I was Batgirl (wrong characters) lol. Then we dropped. I must tell you that I trusted my brother of course but, my faith was in the Lord. As we flew through the sky, my brother kept telling me to put my arms out like Superman lol. That was not happening. I told my brother that I was only riding the ride because I loved him! I don't think the wind has ever whipped through my fro the way it did when we were on that ride lol.
When we reached the end of the ride, I was excited! I couldn't believe that I'd done it. I felt a great sense of accomplishment. I was more thankful to the Lord for the experience and survival status :-) I was thankful to my brother for pushing me.
Although I will not be riding one for another long time, I am appreciative of the experience and lesson.
My experience on the roller coaster represents our experiences in life. Sometimes, we just have to take a risk and trust that the Lord will take care of us during the ride. Fear can stop us from experiencing many great things in life. But our faith in the Lord can help us overcome fear. We may not know the exact plan, but rest assured that He has us. Our experiences may take us through loops and turn us upside down, but by Him we will come out better than we were before :-)
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind"- 2 Timothy 1:7
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Phillipans 4:6-7
I am interested in reading your experiences of overcoming your fears. Please share :-)

God is Good!
Happy Tuesday everyone,
Today I lost an important document, my keys, and was presented with a challenging situation. But, God is still good :-)
"I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth" Psalms 34:1

"Do Not Worry About Your Life..."
"Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than birds? And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest? Consider the lillies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all was glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith? And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you". Luke 12:22-31
I love the scriptures above because the Bible tell us not to worry (or be anxious). You may have fallen upon hard times and do not know when your next meal will be. You may not have many clothes, but in Luke Chapter 12, God reminds us that he will take care of us. In Genesis 1:26, the Bible says that God gives us "dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl in the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth". So, if God feeds the birds and the fish, then why wouldn't he feed us. This is another scripture that tells us that as long as we follow God, we do not need to be afraid.

"This is the day the Lord has made..."

"This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it". Psalms 118:24
I love the bible scripture located above because it give us the RIGHT to enjoy the present. When I am having a good or bad day, I think about the scripture above and it makes me smile. I know that the Lord is present. Every morning that we wake up is a chance at better things. It is a chance to have a better relationship with Him.

Talent and Skill in God's Eyes
| w |
I have been thinking a lot about talents and skills or abilities, lately. God-given gifts or talents are the things that you were born performing well. For example, there are people that learn how to sing. There are people that possess the ability to sing from birth. I always believed that gifts or talents were first place in God's eyes.
For example, let's say that I had the talent of writing from birth. But, I learned to draw later on. I believed that the writing was the most important thing.
I asked one of the ministers at my church. His response was that any talent or skill that glorifies God is a gift from God. That lesson was by Minister Dn. That is deep! lol. Everyone has those gifts or God-given purposes that God has provided for you to share with the world. Those are priority. But, he can also use your skills or learned abilities to serve his divine purpose.
What are your thoughts on this?
...because God is soooo good!
I was running late for work this morning. I spent an extra 20 minutes looking for my bus pass. But, guess what! I still made it to my bus on time because God is soooo good! I hope that you are having a great day. God is with you :-) Until next time... KinkyCurlyYoungLady
